It’s been a while since I’ve sat down at my computer and written out a post, other than recounting Norah’s birth story of course. But the reason for doing so is for a very lovely reason. Last week we were invited to our local JoJo Maman Bebe store, in Norwich, to experience their Maternity VIP Event. Of course, Norah is no longer inside but with breastfeeding I was very much in need of some nursing essentials.
When we arrived we were greeted by the very lovely Jo who straight away started to show me around the nursing clothes. I didn’t realise that there were so many JoJo Maman Bebe clothes that took you from maternity to nursing which means you don’t have to spend out twice. I wish I had have known this when I was pregnant however that didn’t stop me having a good browse of their summer collections. If you’re expecting a baby there is so much gorgeous choice.
My biggest issue at the moment is finding a decent bra and clothes that are easy to feed in. Jo showed me the clothes that would be perfect for me and she understood my style straight away. Even popping down to the stock room for a dress that was new in! I admitted to Jo that I had never been measured for a bra. Ever. Eeek. She said not to worry and she would measure me. I had doubled my size so I was definitely wearing the wrong size.
Another issue I was having was keeping my breast pads in at night. Bra’s were too uncomfortable to wear and vest tops just didn’t hold them. Jo recommended sleep bras. I tried them on and instantly fell in love with them. Whilst in the changing room Edith was kept occupied with the micro scooter and entertaining the other ladies who were working in the shop. She had such a lovely time. She also did some colouring and her Daddy treated her to a white and pink campervan, she has an obsession with campers at the moment. It was really lovely to go to something that catered for older children so don’t worry about bringing them along!
I tried on quite a few items, which was lovely. It was nice to concentrate on me for a little bit. I spend most of my time with the girls so it was nice to look for things for me for a change. In the end I settled for two dresses that I could feed in. I am over the moon as it means I can wear dresses this summer whilst breastfeeding. I honestly thought that I wouldn’t be able to wear any.
The event is such a lovely thing to do. It that’s little bit of me time you need and deserve as a Mama-to-be/new Mama. The events are all over the country and you find out more about it here.
