Yesterday we ventured to a local(ish) farm to pick our own pumpkin. It’s something that I have wanted to do for ages but they’ve always been a little bit too far away. After a quick search of the internet I found a place that was only a 35 minute drive away. I knew that Edith would absolutely love visiting the pumpkin patch as she adores pumpkins. She calls them “pupkins” which is just way too cute! So we headed out to the farm ready to pick out a pumpkin.

We parked up at the farm shop and walked over to the field. It was starting to get a little busy and people were pushing huge wheelbarrows full of pumpkins. There was however plenty to go around. We walked round the entire field inspecting each pumpkin. Edith was particularly fussy over which one to take home.

There was so much choice and although I love the white ghost pumpkins we settled for a traditional orange one. Edith couldn’t decide which one to get in the end so we helped her out a little with her choice. Our pumpkin was quite a big one, we took it back to the farm shop to see how much it was going to cost and we’re pleasantly surprised that it only cost £1! How amazing is that. We definitely want to head back to The Tacons next year if they do it again. We took our pumpkin home and got to work straight away with carving.

Growing up the pumpkin carving was always down to my me and my Dad. He would do all the carving and I would help scoop out the mixture. It’s lovely to see Edith helping her Daddy. Edith helped to scoop out the insides while Daddy got to work.

There was only one face going on our pumpkin and it had to be Edith’s favourite Disney character. Goofy. It was such a nice way to spend a day in the run up to Halloween. Days like this is what having a family is all about. Spending quality time with each other, I can’t wait until there’s another little helper at the table too.
