If you are planning your wedding, then there are so many different things to think about. From the location to the dress, to the cake and the rings; there are a lot of decisions to make. One of the decisions that I think needs to be decided on fairly early on, is where you are going to have the wedding. It can help to decide so many other factors about the wedding, so it is a pretty integral role in the whole process.
There might have always been a certain place that you have wanted to get married. You might want to have a church wedding with a reception somewhere else. So thinking up two places can be a little trickier. So sometimes an outdoor wedding could be just the thing. You can choose a location close to where the ceremony will be, or just have the ceremony all planned outside. If you’re thinking of a wedding in an outdoor location, then here are some tips and ideas to help.
Check the Legal Side of Things
In the UK, you need to do the legal side of things in an actual building. So it might be a good idea to look for a location that has somewhere inside too. Then the signing of the register and the things that you legally have to say can be done in there. If you don’t want to have all your guests in there, though, it can be very quick. Then you could do a ring exchange and recite your vows to each other in front of everyone outside. You might have to get a permit if you are planning to use an outside public space for the wedding too. So as you are making your plans, just make sure that you have all of the legal things under sorted and understood.
Plan For the Weather
Again, in the UK we are blessed with some unique weather. You can never count on when the best time would be to have an outdoor wedding. So the best thing to do is to not overthink the wedding date too much. Choose it when you would like it, though spring and summer are likely to be warmer (not necessarily drier). Just make sure you put some thought into plans for inclement weather, though. Having some festival-style flooring put down can be helpful to avoid mud getting everywhere. You could also think about getting some luxury outdoor wedding tipis or a marquee so that there is somewhere undercover to sit, dance, and eat.
Think About Logistics
With an outdoor wedding, there can be some things that need a little extra planning. Is there somewhere nearby to serve food from, or will you choose a cold buffet? Will there be an electrical outlet somewhere for lights or fans, should you need them? Sometimes using a large backyard is a great way to solve some of these problems, rather than just a local park or green space. But have a think about everything that you want, and then you can decide from there.
